What do I need to install? Does it require LAN? Or Wifi?
It takes 3-10 minutes to install. Use the double-sided tape to hang the Celpax, plug in the transmitter semi-near, and wait for the "Celpax OK" text. That's it.
You don’t need any IT involvement as we never access your network (No LAN or Wifi required, the device has a SIM card which automatically sends us the encrypted data which you can later access logging in to your dashboard).
The Celpax device runs on batteries which last +5 years. The transmitter comes with a power supply that works in your country. Everything is designed to be Plug & Play pretty much out of the box.
Do I need to drill to install the unit?
No, the device uses a strong double-sided tape which is enough (unless you have a VERY rough surface like a naked brick wall, like you typically have outdoors).
Does the Celpax work in my country?
We have connectivity in 98% of the countries in the world. It can be installed pretty much anywhere in the world, as long as the device can connect to a mobile network from your office or factory.
We currently have signups from 60 countries.
Does the device require maintenance?
- You might want to use your normal cleaning products to give it a wipe every now and then.
- The battery is built to last +5 years. We monitor the battery levels remotely.
How can I reset / change my password?
Click on "forgot password?" on the login page: https://users.celpax.com.
If you haven't received the reset email after a couple of minutes, check your spam filter.
What is my user name?
The company email you used to signup. I.e. email@example.com
How can I show our results on TV screens / intranet?
The API is like a plugin that makes your system automatically connect to ours to grab the daily Mood KPI and display it on screens, intranets, etc.
We use PHP and NodeJS. You will need someone with programming experience to help you. You can find your API keys and the Source Code on the Dashboard in the Configuration menu (top right corner).
How can I download our results as .csv?
Click on the cloud under the "Advanced section" to correlate with other company KPI’s like production, safety incidents, revenue, sick days, etc.
What is the maximum range for the transmitter and device?
Outside the range is up to 1200 feet (400 m), inside it could be the same, or as little as a few meters if you have metal doors, walls in-between etc.
In office environments we very rarely see problems, it's more in industrial environments etc we might see issues.
And 95% of these are solved after moving the transmitter just once.
Where should I place the transmitter?
- Near the Celpax as they need to reach each other.
- Outside the range is up to 1200 feet (400 m), inside it could be the same, or as little as a few meters if you have metal doors, walls in-between etc.
- Hang it out of the way so no one unplugs it by mistake
- High up is better! And vertical.
- A good spot is where you have high mobile coverage, or near a window.
- To verify if you have coverage - It should read "Celpax system ready" on the screen
I just installed and can't see the results on the dashboard?
As long as the red and green lights appear (to show your collective mood) after you've pressed, your Celpax is working. We monitor it remotely and would contact you if something isn't working.
The transmitter connects randomly to send the data to our server. This happens approx. 1 per hour. This is so we can group the results so employees feel anonymous as the give their feedback.
If you check back in an hour or so, you should be able to see the first results.
How can I change site to see the results from my other factory / office?
Click on the site name (top left) and the drop-down menu will display all your work locations.
How can I change the name of my site (office / location..)?
Click on your email in the right top corner to enter "configuration". Change the name and save your changes. It can take up to 2 hours before you see the new name.
How can I change how many employees we have?
On the dashboard: Click on your email in the right top corner to enter "configuration". Change the number of employees and save your changes. It can take up to 2 hours before you see the new number.
You can indicate from which date our algorithms should start using the new number. I.e. in January you had 30 people, and starting Feb 1st, you're 35.
You can also put a percentage per day. I.e. 20% work on Saturdays. The more accurate, the better our algorithms work. By default, we will use the data you provided us with when signing up.
I need to move our device! How?
We include two extra double-sided tape pieces when we deliver your Celpax. Ask us to send more if needed :)
Follow the installation instructions to make sure it's properly installed. I.e. the lights under the buttons should show the results after you press, and there should be a green light on your transmitter.
Remember that we don't reset the data in the Mini plan and plans without support.
Why are some sections locked?
The algorithms need more (of your) mood data to unlock them :)
Why can't I see our Mood KPI?
The Mood KPI is a rolling average, and is calculated using all your pulses from your last 30 days.
- During deployment: The first 14 days is your warm-up period. These days are excluded when we calculated your Mood KPI. So it takes 45 days to unlock it for the first time.
- Post 45 days: If you don't have enough days with results (closed for holidays, etc), it will temporarily be unavailable. As soon as you have enough days, it will come back. Meanwhile, you can check day results under Advanced.
Do I need to download any software?
Nope. The results is available 24/7 under https://users.celpax.com.
What if someone presses twice?
We were also worried about this at first, so we build in screening mechanisms into our software to filter.
Then we realized that our filter hardly ever kicks in, as in our experience this behaviour simply does not tend to happen in a consistent way in companies.
Every time someone presses the button they are sending you a message, they are communicating with you. And this is what you want, for people to get involved, and to find out how you can have “greener” days!
In some companies, there might be a day or two per year with what we call “Protest Pulses”. The people behind the protest pulses highly disagree with what’s going on in the company. So they press twice. This might also mean that he or she won’t’ pick up the phone when a customer calls. Twice!
On one hand, they might be seen as a group “boycotting the initiative” and impacting your Mood KPI. However, the question is: Which other initiatives are they boycotting? Which other KPIs are they impacting? Customer Satisfaction? Revenue?
We personally find it very annoying to work with highly disengaged people around :) They keep telling everybody why our jobs suck, etc. If someone presses more and distort the results one day, this could have the same effect on your business when they sabotage among their coworkers. It shouldn’t be ignored.
Here’s a blog post about the “silent majority” and disengaged workers that tend to believe that “everything sucks at work”. As you start improving, the numbers will help these employees, and everybody, to see that things are improving.
Cause here’s the thing. You need to improve the employee mood.
This could be done by making the happy people happier... or getting the unhappy people less unhappy. It doesn’t matter.
The focus should be on making the green pulses, greener. The same employees will be pressing tomorrow as you have today. This is what and where you need to improve.
We count pulses, we don’t count people. We place the Celpax ergonomically in a similar position at all companies so that we can compare the pulses between work sites. If someone presses the red button 3 times, it’s interesting data. One way of looking at it is: Why are these people here if they’re actively sabotaging?
This is where your challenges lie, in changing behaviours, in improving your work culture. It’s easy to think that the red pulses come from someone sabotaging but rationalizing doesn’t work. We like to see it as we give people the brutal facts. In one company their Mood KPI is at 50% green. There are similar workplaces that are at 80%. Why aren’t employees pressing red 3 times there?
We urge leaders to focus on the ongoing tendency: are you moving in the right direction or not? With hundreds or thousands of pulses in one month, it makes sense to focus on the ‘big picture’, and not individual pulses.
It is less important when the button was pressed. In fact, our tests showed that in companies where they have stray pulses throughout the day, there was hardly any difference between the mood in the morning and in the afternoon – unless “something” happened during the day (a big announcement, company event, etc).

Our Mood KPI went down on a day when no one was in the office?
The Mood KPI is a rolling average. It is calculated using all your pulses from your last 30 days.
If 31 days ago you had unusual green results for example, this day will now be excluded and replaced by another day results that is neutral.
This way you might get a minimal change in your Mood KPI on a day when no one is working / pressing.
How can I get a new power plug?
The Celpax uses a standard USB power plug (5v 2A). Examples here.

Is there a way to reset the data?
The possibility to remove the data from the first days is available for paying customers only, as it involves some manual work for us. Thanks for understanding!
Either way, the data for the first 14 days is your Warm-Up period. This data will not be included when you unlock your Mood KPI. This is because, from a statistical point of view, it's quite common that people press a bit more than they would perhaps do later.
Where do you store and process the data?
We store and process the data in our data centre in Germany. We use a private cloud that runs on hardware that we rent directly from the datacenter. This is a decision we took some years ago due to emerging privacy concerns.
We still use some minor services from public clouds (such as DNS), that we are slowly moving out to our private cloud.
Why is there an orange light on my Celpax? (non-smiley faces version)
If there's an orange / yellow light in the top corner of your Celpax, it's having problems connecting to your transmitter.
If you're installing: Move the transmitter closer to your Celpax.
If not: Is the transmitter plugged in? Is there a green light?
I received a message that you can't see my transmitter
Uy, that means we can't receive your employee mood data and are at risk of losing data.
Is the transmitter cable unplugged?
If yes: Plug it back in.
Does it say "Celpax system ready" on the screen? Is there a green light?
If not: Plug out the cable and plug it back in after 15 seconds.
Once it reads "ready", press the test button (the small transparent one on the SIDE of the Celpax) it should flash 3 times in green to confirm that all is back to normal :)
Where are my activation codes?
You will find the activation codes at the back of the Celpax, and at the back of the transmitter.
In this example, the activation code for the Celpax is N97Q, and for the transmitter, it's 02OE.
You will need to give us these codes when you ask for activation via email.
How do I wake up my Celpax so I can install it?
To save battery, your Celpax is in sleeping mode when it arrives.
Let's wake it up!
- Gently press a paper clip in the hole on the left side. You should see lights!
How can I check if my Celpax is working?
- After you press either of the smiley buttons, the people icons will show today's team result from everyone that has pressed.
- If you don't see these lights, please follow step 2 below
- If you press the test button (the small transparent one on the SIDE of the Celpax) it should flash 3 times in green.
- If it flashes red 3 times, please check that your transmitter cable is plugged in
